All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: MK Hawn mkhawn2@gmail.com August 29, 2005, 10:16 pm Source: DAR Library, Washington, DC Written: December 19, 1795 Probated 13 January 1796 In the Name of God Amen The nineteenth day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-five, I John Klotz senr. of Lowhill Township in the County of Northampton and state of Pennsylvania Yeoman being very sick and weak in Body but of perfect mind & memory Thanks be given unto God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once for to dye do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament That is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the Hands of God that gave it and for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like decent manner at the discretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God. And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form It is my will and I do order That in the first place all my past Debts and ----charges be paid and Satisfied. Item it is my will that my son John Klotz and my son John George Klotz shall have all and singular the lands messuages and Tenements to belong to them their Heirs and assigns forever which being situate in Lowhill Township aforesaid adjoining lands of Michael Deiber, Tobias Moser, Jacob Resh, Jacob Leisor, George Krass, Sebastian Edel, Peter Knedler, Jacob Horner, and Andrew Knerr and Containing two hundred & thirty acres be the same more or less and it is further my will that my son John and my son John George shall have all my moveable Estate whatever I have in ----Except whereafter mentioned and it is my will that my beloved wife Veronica as long as she shall remain a widow shall live on the place with my son John and my son Jno. George and they shall give to their mother her Yearly subsistence as follows Viz. three bushels of good wheat, ten bushels of good rice, six bushels of good buckwheat, one bushel of Indian corn a half-quarter acre Potatoes of the piece where they have theirs, and ten pounds of goof heckled Flax and the toe [?] thereto, the fourth-part of the garden, the benefit thereof, one gallon of Rum, one barrel of good cider, and apples as much as she wants --- ---- for one cow yearly, and room in the stableyard for her enough and go in pasture with theirs, a quarter pepper, a quarter also spice, a quarter ginger, one bushel of salt, one gallon of fish oil, seventy-five pounds of good pork, with the fat, the fifth part of the eggs and fowls, one pair of new shoes soling and mending, two pound of good wool, firewood enough and cut the same fit for in the stove, and she shall have liberty in the house seller and springhouse, and they shall deliver her the meal into the house of all the grain, and ten shillings in money, but in case my wife Veronica should marry again then she shall have fifty pounds in Real specie lawful money of the state of Pennsylvania which my son John and my son Jno. George shall give to her when two years after she is married, and the yearly subsistence cease immediately after married, but she shall have her Bed Chest and spinning wheel which she shall take along with her, and it is my will that my son John and my son Jno. George shall pay unto my other children seven hundred pounds in specie lawful money of the state of Pennsylvania to each of them one hundred pounds to be paid as hereafter mentioned Viz. to Jno. Jacob, Christian, Daniel, Maria Barbara, Maria Magdalena, Maria Catharina, & Susanna it is my will that my son John and my son Jno. George shall bring up my above named children until each of them comes of age of fourteen Years and give them meat drink apparel washing and lodging and give them sufficient schooling to learn to read and write and get them instructed to Take the Sacrament and when my son Jno. Jacob, Christian, Daniel each of them arrives the age of fifteen years then it is my will that my son John and my son Jno. George shall put them out to some Trade and it is my will that my daughters Maria Barbara, Maria Magdalena, Maria Catharina, & Susanna shall live with my son John and my son Jno. George until they come of age and work for them, and it my will that my son John and my son Jno. George shall give each of them one cow, bed, chest, and spinning wheel, and a new suit of clothes and it is my will that which of my sons John or John George chooses to live in the house where I now live shall help the other to build a house and Barn in the field and meadow towards George Krauss that it to say in the upper field and plane an hundred young apple trees, and it is my will that my son John and my son Jno. George shall pay the above said seven hundred pounds by instawlments [sic] to wit the sum of thirty five pounds shall be paid one Year after my decease and then every Year after thirty pounds shall be paid on the twenty-seventh of May until the sum of seven hundred pounds are in full paid, and it is my will that so long as my wife Veronica remains a widow shall have the liberty to use any kitchen ware or other Tool whatsoever she shall want and my son John and my son Jno. George shall pay for Weaving for their mother, and I do Constitute make & ordain Michael Deiber Junr. Executor of this my Last Will & Testament & do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every former Testaments Wills [illegible] & Executors by me in any way before that time granted willed and bequeathed Ratifying [illegible]ing this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
