There is no work to be had here at any rpice. Things are dull in the extreem. I cleared 37 dollars on my chickens the short time we had them. I sold what bacon I had to span(hams) at 20 cts per #. (sides) 16 cts per #. I have no spiceal news to write. The political horizon here is dark in the extreem. the people expect a draft here next month, and I think when ever it does begin, the fighting will begin. I see no help for it, Now Grandma as I wrote to you not long since, I will not write much now, but when I get to Oregon I will write & give you an account of our Journey, the country etc, etc, it is about 550 miles to where we are going, will take us about 4 weeks to make the trip, I hope this will find you all well. no news, but Remains your children in haste.
